Once upon a time—1970 to be exact—Darlene was spotted at her school by a scout from the law firm of Weatherston, Bowlby, Luchak & Martino and became a summer student for John D. Bowlby, Q.C. She had intended to start Mohawk College’s new program for Legal Office Administration that September—but you know what they say about the best-laid plans. Darlene accepted the offer of a full-time job with Hamilton’s premier litigation firm, declining offers of jobs in Toronto and the call of the classroom.
Over the years, Darlene has worked with various lawyers, many of whom became judges in the Court of Appeal, Supreme Court, County Court, Unified Family Court, and Superior Court of Justice.
She joined her brother-in-law’s firm, Lamont Law, in 1986 and is now the office manager and provides senior litigation support. She usually works behind the scenes throughout the files and is more involved at the conclusion of claims, obtaining final judgments, court approval and meeting with clients. She has assisted at many trials, mediations and client interviews. Darlene is also in charge of day-to-day operations, marketing and employee relations.
Darlene’s education comes from the school of life. Every client she touches benefits from her extensive experience—enhanced by her continuing education courses—and calming presence. Darlene is involved with her community as a former board member of Hamilton & District Extend-A-Family and the MS Society, and volunteer with Hamilton Police Victim Services.
